at-home gym essentials + a 12 minute full body dumbbell circuit

Working out at home has become the norm for me these days. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love going to the gym….crave it in fact. But after going back to work full time last January, fitting in gym workouts can seem impossible. Especially when all I want to do is be home spending time with my family. Who’s with me?

Having a basic at-home gym set-up has really helped me push past the excuse of “not having enough time to workout” and just getting it done! So here are my at-home gym essentials + a super quick and effective full body workout you can complete in under 15 min!

at-home gym essentials

  • Dumbbell Set – a light, medium, and heavy set. I have a 5, 8, 10, and 15 pound set of these hand weights from Target.

  • Yoga Mat – a must for floor work (planks, ab work, push ups, etc).. all more comfortable on a mat. Plus it’s a great way to define your workout space.

  • Bluetooth Speaker – music is such a great motivator and just as essential at home as having headphones in at the gym.

  • Foam Roller – I love having one at home. Check out this article for 10 ways you can use your foam roller. I have the Gaiam Restore Muscle Therapy 18″ Foam Roller from Target.

Now grab a pair of dumbbells and try this 12 minute full body circuit at home or the gym! These 4 compound movements work multiple muscle groups at the same time making for one super efficient full body workout in under 15 min.

  1. Squat + Shoulder Press

  2. Deadlift + Bent Over Row

  3. Push-up + Plank Rotation

  4. Lying Pullover + Sit up

Perform each exercise for 1 min and repeat the entire circuit 3 times for a 12 minute full body workout.
